Low cost spay/neuter of cats and dogs of qualifying St. Charles Parish residents takes place at the St. Charles Animal Shelter (across from Westbank Bridge Park). Qualifying pet owners should arrive by 8 a.m. with pets restrained on a leash or in a carrier. Pets should not have food or water after 10 p.m. the night before surgery. Free art classes for St. Charles Parish senior citizens, age 60 and up, are from noon to 3 p.m. at the New Sarpy Senior Citizen Center. East St. John High School Sugarettes girls lock in takes place in the schools gym. The lock in, for girls age 6-13, begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday and ends at 7 a.m. Saturday. A workshops on hair styling and makeup will be held and girls can have their nails polished. Entertainment will include dancing, games and movies. Refreshments will be sold – no outside food allowed.
