LAPLACE — The Port of South Louisiana hosted U.S. Rep. Garret Graves (R-Baton Rouge) during his recent visit to various agencies in the River Region.
Executive Director Paul Aucoin and other Port representatives provided an overview, along with a tour and detailed description of the Port’s public terminal, Globalplex Intermodal.
Graves and Aucoin also visited with executives from Marathon Petroleum Corporation facility in Garyville.
The stay at the Port of South Louisiana culminated with a luncheon attended by local business and government leaders, including State Sen. Gary Smith, St. Charles Parish President V.J. St. Pierre, St. John the Baptist Parish President Natalie Robottom and St. James Parish President Timmy Roussel.
Graves presented his stance on and discussed issues important to the River Region, such as coastal restoration and flood protection, energy independence, infrastructure maintenance and environmental standards.
“We at the Port of South Louisiana thank Congressman Garret Graves for taking the time to visit our port,” Aucoin said.
“While Congressman Graves is our State’s newest Congressman, he certainly does not lack experience in public service. He has years of service in many capacities, which will serve him well as a Congressman. We appreciate his support of the Port of South Louisiana.”
