A Flash Flood Watch for St. John the Baptist Parish and greater portions of Southeast Louisiana has been extended until 7 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Numerous low pressure systems continue to move across the region, bringing the threat of severe weather, including strong thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.

St. John Parish received two to three inches of rainfall in the past 12 hours at the Emergency Operations Center, with possible higher amounts elsewhere. Street flooding was also reported in low-lying areas.

Due to highly saturated grounds, street flooding will continue to be a threat when multiple thunderstorms occur in a short period of time. Residents should use extreme caution when on roads and refrain from driving on flooded streets if possible

Portions of St. John the Baptist Parish, including Foxwood, LaPlace Park, Cambridge, Riverlands, Belle Terre, River Forest and Reserve, experienced street flooding early Tuesday as a result of heavy rainfall in a short period of time.

Please report standing water to 911 immediately.
