FALGOUST

HAMMOND – Hymel G. “Mel” Falgoust Jr., 77, a native of Vacherie and resident of Hammond, died Dec 21. He was the father of Barbara Mennite, Vanessa Cox, Margaret Clifton and Gregory Falgoust.

He is also survived by two grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church, Hammond, with interment at Greenlawn Mausoleum. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

MATHERNE

NORCO – Ida H. Matherne, 84, a native of Reserve and resident of Norco, died Dec. 23. She was the mother of Shirley Cicet and Wayne, Joseph, Paul and Clancy “C.J.” Matherne Jr.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 27 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.

SCIONEAUX

HARVEY – Sidney J. Scioneaux, 83, a native of St. James Parish and resident of Marrero, died Dec. 24. He was the husband of Cora May Martinez Scioneaux and father of Faye Allemand, Sydney Gaitan and Wendy Petit.

He was the son of the late Leonard Scioneaux and Louise Berthelot and brother of Selma Lasseigne, Roy Scioneaux and the late Julienne Gervais and John and Curtis Scioneaux.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post 222 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6793.

Services were Dec. 27 in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, Harvey, with interment at Westlawn Memorial Park.

SCOTT

HAHNVILLE – Jamoni Jesse Scott, 1, a resident of Killona, died Dec. 20. He was the son of Florence Scott and brother of Shandranika, Jamell and Clarence Scott.

He was the grandchild of Shirley Scott.

Services were Dec. 27 in the chapel of Robottom Mortuary, Hahnville, with interment at Mt. Airy Memorial Park Cemetery, Boutte.

ST. AMANT

BOUTTE – Norman M . St. Amant, 90, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died Dec. 23.

He was the husband of the late Helen Tregle St. Amant and father of Marietta Babineaux.

He was the son of the late Francois and Catherine Trauth St. Amant and brother of Nettie Multer, Vera Neil and the late Elise Cocke, Iona Cantrelle, Bernadine Melancon and Frank, Ignatious, Jesse, Alton, Van, Nolan, Gerald and Marvin St. Amant.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Services were Dec. 27 at Boutte Assembly of God Church, with interment at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Des Allemands.

TASTET

DES ALLEMANDS – Floyd Louis Tastet, 83, a native of Raceland and resident of Des Allemands, died Dec. 24.

He was the husband of Hilda Schmill Tastet and father of Joycelyn Fann and Cheryl Eymard.

He was the son of the late William and Valerie Danos Tastet and brother of Ida LeBlanc, Gertrude Rahn, Donald Tastet and the late Enola Foret, Florence Breaux and Lucille, Paul, Roy Earl and Roland Tastet.

He is also survived by six grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Des Allemands, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

YOUNG

EDGARD – Edward “Smoke Sausage” Young, 50, a native and resident of Edgard, died Dec. 22. He was the son of Warina B. Young and the late Freddie Dave Young and brother of Freddie Jr., Ivory, Julius, Dottie, Judy, Jennie and the late Michael and Iristeal Young.

He was the nephew of Gladys Gray and Lorraine Young.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Greater New St. Peter Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Edgard. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
