BOUDREAUX
HARVEY – Ernest J. Boudreaux, 80, a native of St. Charles Parish and resident of Gretna for 29 years, died Dec. 4. He was the husband of Jessie Wilson Boudreaux and father of Sheila Nojolia and Sharon Ledet.
He was the brother of Alice Babin, Irma Ledet, Lucille Loup and Laurie Lombard.
He is also survived by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was a retired subcontractor.
Services were Dec. 9 in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, Harvey, with interment at Restlawn Cemetery.
CELESTIN
ST. JAMES – A’Kira Jonea “Kira” Celestin, 5, a native of St. James and resident of Gonzales, died Dec. 3. She was the daughter of Adam and Shakira Sylve and sister of Adam Sylve Jr.
She was the grandchild of Elvincent and Carol Celestin, Dennis and Violet Sylve, Theodore and Lynne Barze and the late Josephine Thompson and great-grandchild of Carolyn Hawkins, Dorothy Celestin, Audrey Adams, Wilson and Helen Sylve and the late Jack Hawkins, Lionel Celestin Sr. and Wilbert and Wilhelmina Storks.
Services were Dec. 9 at Buena Vista Baptist Church, St. James, with interment at Ascension of Our Lord Mausoleum, Donaldsonville.
ESNEAULT
LUTCHER – Sybil Collums “Mama Sib” Esneault, 83, a native of Shrepta, Miss., and resident of Gramercy, died Dec. 6. She was the wife by first marriage of the late Lloyd Nettles and by second marriage of the late Jules Esneault and mother of Dot Vicknair, Pat Turner, Jamie Landry and Jimmy and Billy Nettles.
She is survived by 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were Dec. 10 in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, Lutcher, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina.
JOHNSON
RESERVE – Cynthia Johnson, 61, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Dec. 4. She was the wife of Larry Johnson and mother of Bernisha Warren, Melissa Robinson and Laticsha Johnson.
She was the daughter of the late Gilbert Duhe and Josephine Smith and sister of Deloris Breaux, Brannetter James, Junious Greene, Gilbert, Edwin Sr. and Lawrence Duhe Sr. and the late Ivory Smith and Margarite Lennix.
She is also survived by five grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 9 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at Resthaven Cemetery, LaPlace.
LENKO
ST. AMANT – Terry M. Lenko Jr., 30, a native of Lutcher and resident of St. Amant, died Dec. 8. He was the father of Haley Lenko.
He was the son of Terry Sr. and Mary Babin Lenko and brother of Darla and Dana Lenko.
He was the grandchild of Catherine Lenko and the late Wilson “Fatty” and Stella Babin and Nick Lenko.
Services are today at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Amant, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8:30 a.m.
LOUQUE
GRAMERCY – Odelia Duhe Louque, 87, a native of Lutcher and lifelong resident of the Lutcher/Gramercy area, died Dec. 6. She was the wife of the late Numa “Tip” Louque and mother of Warren “Potsey” and Douglas Louque.
She was the daughter of the late Claude and Electa Duhe; sister of Doris Kollman, Electa Copponex, Elua Gagliano, Gertie Millet, Julia Sanchez, Betty Oswald and Kenneth, Milton and the late Kramer, Norman, Lester, Allen and Claude “C.J.” Duhe; and stepsister of Alice Copponex.
She is also survived by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 10 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina.
McDANIEL
NEW ORLEANS – Rosalie “Lilly” McDaniel, 87, a native of Garyvlle and resident of New Orleans, died Dec. 5. She was the mother of Wallace and Leonard McDaniel.
She was the sister of Rose Rester, Gloria Ballestas and Anna Mae, Fano and Louis Navarro.
She was a retired beautician.
Services were Dec. 7 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, New Orleans, with interment at Greenwood Mausoleum.
PARKES
LAPLACE – Virginia L. Parkes, 92, a native of Tennessee and resident of LaPlace for 34 years, died Dec. 8. She was the wife of the late Harry Parkes and mother of Virginia Lillie and the late Harry Parkes.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 10 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.
WELDON
THAILAND – Dr. Charles Louis “Jigs” Weldon, a native of St. James Parish, longtime resident of Iberville Parish and resident of Chiang Rai, Thailand, since 1987, died Nov. 22. He was the husband by first marriage of the late Dr. Patricia McCreedy and by second marriage of Niapaporn “EO” Singhustita and father of Rebecca, Ray and Walter Weldon.
He was the son of the late Joseph and Mae Bargas Weldon and is survived by four sisters and five brothers and was preceded in death by his sisters, Josie Boyd, Mary Jane Parker and Katherine Haralson.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
He was a student at Texas A&M University and joined the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, serving five years and attaining the rank of captain. He graduated from LSU Medical School in New Orleans, had a family practice in Maringouin for several years and joined the U.S. Agency for International Development, where they served in Laos during the Vietnam War.
