BARTHOLOMEW
SOUTH VACHERIE – Brandon Nicholas “Nick” Bartholomew, 31, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Aug. 22. He was the son of Nelson and Cheryl Batiste Bartholomew and brother of Keenan Bartholomew.
He was the grandchild of Equator and the late Albert Batiste, Viola Lewis and the late Joseph Bartholomew.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Persian Gulf War.
Services were Aug. 29 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, South Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery.
BOUDREAUX
METAIRIE – Davis John “Skee” Boudreaux, 78, a native of Central and resident of Metairie for 50 years, died Aug. 29. He was the husband of Helena Abadie Boudreaux and father of Judy Senior, Linda Arnold and William and Gary Boudreaux.
He was the brother of Joy Holdridge, Daisy Schexnayder, Audrey O’Cain and Johnny, Daniel and Larry Boudreaux.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Romeville High School and attended Oberlin College in Ohio. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, where he was awarded the Victory Ribbon, American Area Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon and the Philippines Liberation Ribbon.
Services are today at 12:30 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Metairie, with interment at Garden of Memories. Visitation begins at 9 a.m.
BOUTON
METAIRIE – Antoinette Gennaro Bouton, 89, a native of Metairie and resident of LaPlace for 35 years, died Aug. 25. She was the wife of Willie J. Bouton.
She was the daughter of the late Tony and Lena Bau Gennaro and stepsister of Tony and Ross Gennaro and the late Antoinette Saballa and Camilla Gennaro.
She is also survived by one grandchild.
Services were Aug. 29 in the chapel of Lamana-Panno-Fallo Funeral Home, Metairie, with interment at Metairie Cemetery.
CAMBRE
LAPLACE – Lionel “Peck” Cambre Jr., 68, a native of St. Rose and resident of LaPlace for 28 years, died Aug. 27. He was the husband of Clara Kennedy Cambre and father of Thomas Cambre Sr.
He was the son of Alice Cambre and the late Lionel Cambre Sr. and brother of Ronald Cambre.
He is also survived by two grandchildren.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at Ascension of Our Lord Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation begins at 9 a.m.
DUMAS
SOUTH VACHERIE – Ernest Dumas, 66, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Aug. 25. He was the husband of Melanie Domino Dumas.
He was the son of the late Cyril Jr. and Floretta Steib Dumas and brother of Anita Woods, Floretta Harry, Betty Paul and Roy, Herbert, Sylvester, Joseph and the late Eunice Dumas.
Services were Aug. 30 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, South Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery.
GUERET
LAPLACE – Inez Trosclair Gueret, 83, a native of Vacherie and resident of Reserve for 60 years, died Aug. 29. She was the wife of the late Henry Gueret Sr. and mother of Carol Brignac, Mary Miller and Henry Gueret Jr.
She was the daughter of the late Anicet and Eupheme Stein Trosclair and sister of Sidney “Pete” Trosclair and the late Edna Mae Triche and Elvest Trosclair.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services were Aug. 30 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.
JACKSON
NORCO – Mary Lee Jackson, 64, a native of Roxie, Miss., and resident of LaPlace, died Aug. 26. She was the wife of Peter Jackson Jr.
She was the daughter of the late Sam and Letha White and sister of Lucille Brengettsy, Margret Starks and Earline, Hilton, the Rev. Alexander and Benny Joe White.
Services were Aug. 29 at Greater Good Hope Baptist Church, Norco, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose.
JOHNSON
RESERVE – Cassandra Charles Johnson, 48, a native of LaPlace and resident of Lutcher, died Aug. 25. She was the wife of John Johnson Jr.; mother of Wendell Jr. and TeAndre Norman; and stepmother of Dedrick and Tanya Johnson.
She was the daughter of the late Edward and Winifred Charles; sister of Lynette Bernard, Pamela Charles, Mahir Aleem, Lowell, Lance and Terry Charles and the late Elva August, Beryl Shelton and Beulah Charles; and stepsister of Edward Charles and Mildred Williams.
She is also survived by 16 grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
MARKEY
LULING – Helen “Gram” Champagne Markey, 87, a native of St. Charles Parish and resident of Boutte, died Aug 26. She was the wife of the late Joseph Markey and mother of Helena August, Joan Moore and Antoinette, Elaine, Sylvia, Joseph and Philip Markey.
She was the daughter of the late Varise and Pauline Pierre Champagne and sister of Leontine Edgerson, Mathilda Mathews and the late Irma Pierre and Hazel, George, Oliver and Ulysses Champagne.
She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services were Aug. 29 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Luling, with interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Boutte.
VANCOURT
CONVENT – Ceola Johnson Vancourt, 70, a native of Welham and resident of Convent, died Aug. 24. She was the wife of the late Rufus Vancourt Sr. and mother of Terry Benn and Rufus Jr., Lois, Elaine and the late Mitchell Vancourt.
She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Olivia Johnson and sister of Leola Bolding and the late Millie Theriot, Mary Pock, Georgiana Hill and Willie, Arthur Jr. and Freddie Johnson.
She is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at Young Pilgrim Baptist Church, Convent, with interment at St. Michael Cemetery, Convent. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
VICKNAIR
RESERVE – Dorothy Scioneaux Vicknair, 74, a native of Reserve and resident of Luling for 45 years, died Aug. 29.
She was the wife of Harold Vicknair Sr. and mother of Donna Rose, Laura Petit, Cindy Zeringue, Maria Mills and Harold Vicknair Jr.
She was the daughter of the late Theodule and Marie Stein Scioneaux.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren.
Services are today at noon at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
