BOURG

LULING – Mercedes B. Bourg, 87, a native of White Castle and resident of Luling, died Aug. 15. She was the wife of the late Louis DeBautte, by first marriage, and Cullen Bourg, by second marriage, and mother of Sylvia Granier and Lou DeBautte.

She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Julie Penn Braud and sister of the late Julia Braud, Genevieve DeBautte, Mary Hymel, Olive Lemoine, Bernice Metz and Lester Braud.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 19 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Luling, with interment at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Taft.

DUNCAN

NEW ORLEANS – Althea Duncan, 88, a native of LaPlace, former resident of New Orleans for many years and resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, for three years, died Aug. 12. She was the mother of Hennrietta Pressley and Donald Duncan.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 19 at Second Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, New Orleans, with interment at Providence Memorial Park.

KENSER

NORCO – Marie Aupied Portier Kenser, 89, a native of Lafourche Crossing and resident of Norco for more than 69 years, died Aug. 16. She was the wife of the late Guy Portier, by first marriage, and Mel Kenser, by second marriage, and mother of Larry Richard.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Marie Baye Aupied and sister of the late Emily Richard, Rita Ruth and Ferdnand, Clayton, Thomas Jr., Francis and Ernest Aupied.

She is also survived by five grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 20 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Thibodaux.

LAICHE

PAULINA – Capt. Daren Michael Laiche, 24, a native and resident of Lutcher, died Aug. 15. He was the husband of Misty Reed Laiche and father of Donovon Laiche.

He was the son of Glen Laiche and Carlene Laiche Landry, stepson of Daniel Landry and brother of Mindy Murry and Tina LeBlanc.

He was also the grandchild of Rita and the late Robert Laiche Sr. and Emelda and the late Murphy Louque.

Services were Aug. 19 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment at the church mausoleum.

MIDGETT

METAIRIE – Millicent Midgett, 78, a native of Elizabeth City, N.C., and resident of LaPlace for 17 years, died Aug. 15. She was the wife of Dan Midgett Jr. and mother of Mary McGinn, Lois Kelly, Carole Levin and Dan Midgett III.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial services were Aug. 18 at First Christian Church, Metairie.

OUBRE

HAHNVILLE – Nellie “Na Nan” Oubre, 83, a native of Lucy and resident of Luling, died Aug. 14. She was the mother of the late Gayle Jr. and Tony Lapeyrolerie and the companion of Robert Steib.

She was the daughter of the late Leo and Marie Duronslet Pierre and sister of Marguerite Baudy, Catherine Williams and the late Lola Lapeyrolerie and Raymond and Roy Pierre.

She is survived by five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Services were Aug. 19 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hahnville, with interment at the church cemetery, Taft.

SCHULZ

METAIRIE – Esther R. Schulz, 81, a native of Worchester, N.Y., and resident of St. Rose for 20 years, died Aug. 17.

She was the mother of Terry Sr. and George Schulz.

She was the daughter of the late Lillian Rifenburgh.

She is also survived by four grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 19 in the chapel of Lamana-Panno-Fallo Funeral Home, Metairie, with interment at Garden of Memories.
