BOURG
BAKER – Faye Bryan Bourg, 46, a native of Franklin County, Miss., and resident of Luling, died July 16. She was the wife of Pat Bourg of Baker, mother of Bronson and Justin Bourg and stepmother of Nikki Plauche and Andrea LaLonde.
She was the daughter of Canie Smith and the late William Houston Bryan; sister of Cathy Lee, Linda White and Robert, Dale and the late William Bryan; stepsister of Sherrill Smith; and granddaughter of S.C. Flowers.
Services are today at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, Baker, with cremation following. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
CLARK
NEW SARPY – Uless Clark, 75, a native of Norco and resident of New Sarpy, died July 9. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Clark and father of Catherine Bishop, Valena Warmer and Michael, Larry, Lucien, Uless and Alma Chopin.
He was the son of the late Uless Clark and Valena Turley Myles and brother of Eula Harts, Eugene and Mattie Myles, Ellen Stones and the late Emmie Perkins.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
Services were July 18 at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, New Sarpy, with interment at New Sarpy Cemetery.
ESPINAL
KENNER – Elisa Otilia Espinal, 84, a native of La Ceiba, Honduras, and resident of LaPlace for 18 years, died July 10. She was the mother of Jorge and Leonel Espinal and Francisco Michelen.
She was the sister of Francisca Trigueros and Gustavo and Augusto Garcia.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren.
Services are today at 10 a.m. in the chapel of L.A. Muhleisen and Son Funeral Home, Kenner, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
JACKSON
LULING – Hazel T. Jackson, 73, a native and resident of Luling, died July 13. She was the wife of Cleveland Jackson and mother of Glenece Hensley, Robin Jackson and Preston Jr. and Thomas Pierre.
She was the daughter of the late Caroline Hadley and Richard Turner and sister of Ethel Borne, Mildred Stokes, Bernice Champagne, Wilhelmina Simmons, Bessie White, Geneva Dorsey, Louis, Allen Sr., the Rev. Eugene and Lee Turner and the late Leona Daniels and Irma Turner.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were July 18 at Bell Baptist Church, Luling, with interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Boutte.
KEYES
GARYVILLE – John Keyes Jr., 65, a native and resident of Garyville, died July 17. He was the husband of Yvonne Grows Keyes, father of Joyce Brown, Birdell LaBiche and John Keyes III and stepfather of Travis Rogers, Tramond McQuater and the late Jarvis LaBiche.
He was the son of the late Millie Butler Sullivan and John Keyes Sr. and brother of Odile Mitchell, Mary Isom, Howard Sullivan, Alvin Keyes, Joseph Jr. and Larry Smith and the late Patricia Glass and Alvery and Alexander Keyes.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church No. 1, Garyville, with interment at Marathon Bishop Cemetery, Garyville. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
MATHERNE
NORCO – Ruth “Bobbie” Troxler Matherne, 74, a native of St. Rose and resident of Destrehan, died July 17. She was the wife of 57 years of Sidney “Snake” Matherne and mother of Sydney Martin and Eldon “Boogie,” Ronald, Mitchell and Jimmy Matherne.
She was the daughter of the late Leo Sr. and Sylvia Faucheux Troxler and sister of Hilda “Cotton” Vinterella and the late Beatrice Jordan and Leo Troxler Jr.
She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
MELANCON
LAPLACE – Thelma “Telmo” Landry Melancon, 93, a native of Garyville and resident of LaPlace for 85 years, died July 15. She was the wife of the late Roger Melancon.
She was the daughter of the late Superville and Nettie Broussard Landry and sister of Theresa Brignac, Edna Rausch, Mentor “Sleepy” Landry and the late Julie Payne, Alton and Superville Landry Jr.
Services were July 18 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.
PAYTON
ST. ROSE – Ramona Rochelle Payton, 55, a native and resident of St. Rose, died July 15. She was the wife of the late Clarence Payton and mother of Alesha Payton.
She was the daughter of Varnice Jones Donald and the late Freddie Donald; sister of Joan Hirst, Myra Perry, Carol Burton, Illene Weber, Kathleen Bering and the late Will and Freddie Donald; and stepsister of Sylvia Gray, Patricia Evans and Brenda Allen.
She is also survived by one grandchild.
She was a retired teller at Bank One in Destrehan.
Services were July 19 at Fifth African Baptist Church, St. Rose, with interment at St. Rose Cemetery.
POWELL
BILOXI, Miss. – Marjorie Powell, 63, a native of New York and resident of Reserve, died July 17. She was the wife of the late Mike Powell and mother of Linda Delaneauville, Shirley Addison and Michael and James Powell.
She was also the sister of Violet, Faye and Maye.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were July 19 at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, Miss.
SAPIA
BOUTTE – Haley Anthony Sapia, 31, a native of Marrero and resident of Boutte, died July 11. He was the husband of Kimberly Sapia and stepfather of Brittney Myers and Raymond Horne.
He was the son of Earl Sapia Sr., stepson of Roy Boudreaux Jr. and brother of Cherie Buisson, Earl Sapia Jr. and Roy Boudreaux Jr.
Private services were held.
TERRELL
DESTREHAN – Maurice Anthony “Pops” Terrell Sr., 70, a native of New Orleans and resident of St. Rose for 32 years, died July 12. He was the husband of the late Lois Lee James Terrell and father of Charlotte Mason, Jill McKnight and Karen, Dionne, Renita, Kiki, Maurice Jr., Eric, Brenden, Michael, Julian and Jonathon Terrell.
He was the brother of Joseph Terrell Jr.
He is also survived by 16 grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and served as a sergeant. He was a retired mail carrier.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at Providence Memorial Park. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
VINNETT
NEW ORLEANS – Curtis Warren Vinnett, 66, a native of New Orleans and resident of St. Rose for many years, died July 9. He was the husband of Eula Vinnett; father of Cheryl Coleman, Eva Jones, Jonea Jones and Benjamin, Darryl, Calvin and Curtis Vinnett Jr.; and stepfather of Terry Jefferson, Cheryl Fields, Frankie Watson, Phyllis Mike, Caroland Elphage, Lawrence Watson and Frank and Cleveland Mike.
He was the brother of Audrey Eugene, Cora Anderson and August and Wilbert Vinnett.
He is also survived by 32 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was a self-employed carpenter.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, New Orleans, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
WALKER
NORCO – Lawrence A. Walker, 85, a native and resident of Norco, died July 16. He was the husband of 53 years of Ruth Brock Walker and father of Sandee Murphy, Becky Roussel and Laura Walker.
He was the son of the late Walter and Alice Walker and brother of Marguerite “Daisy” Haynes, Georgette Chauvin, Rudolph “Bud” Walker and the late Edna Anderson, Gertrude Brannon, Marie Simecek, Cecilia Kracen and Howard Walker Sr.
He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 195. He was retired from Kaiser Aluminum
Services were July 18 in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, Norco, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan.
