BERTHELOT

GRAMERCY – Melba Bourgeois “Mabel” Berthelot, a native of Convent and resident of Gramercy, died Feb. 25. She was the wife of the late Antoine “Shine” Berthelot Sr. and mother of Melba LeBlanc, Joyce Millet, Albert Bourgeois, Sharon Sensebe, Denny Rae Melancon and Antoine “Tweet” Berthelot Jr.

She was the daughter of the late Henry and Josephine Caillouet Bourgeois and sister of Mildred Laurent and the late Marguerite Laurent, Marie Doming, Mae Troxler and Edward, Randall, Raymond and Roy Bourgeois.

She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Services were Feb. 28 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina.

DEL GIUDICE

LAPLACE – Elaine Verret Del Giudice, 66, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Feb. 26. She was the wife of Nicholas Del Giudice and mother of Gayle Clement, Gwen Guillot, Donna Louque, Charlene Bordelon, Cherie Walber, Gail Lane, Anthony Del Giudice and the late David Lee Perilloux.

She was the daughter of the late Alfred Antoine Sr. and Ida Fox Verret and sister of Rosemary Millet, Linda Ory and Carol and Alfred Verret Jr.

She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

IVEY

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Dr. Jeremiah M. Ivey Jr., 49, a native of Washington D.C., former resident of LaPlace and resident of Washington D.C., died Feb. 18. He was the husband of Bridgette Ivey, father of Alexis, Victoria, Erin, Xavier and Jeremiah Ivey III and stepfather of Whitney McTopy.

He was the son of Dorothy Manning, stepson of Nathaniel Manning, brother of Gail Dunlap, Paula Mitchell, Earl and Donald Ivey and stepbrother of Maxine and Natalie Manning.

He was a former emergency room physician for River Parishes Hospital and Lakeland Medical Center. He attended Howard University and graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Services were Feb. 23 at Michigan Park Christian Church, Washington D.C., with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Washington D.C.

JOHNSON

NEW ORLEANS – Arthur Carl “AC” Johnson, 69, a native of St. James Parish and resident of New Orleans, died Feb. 23. He was the husband of Lillian Jones Mitchell Johnson, father of Marie Judie and stepfather of Craig Mitchell.

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a retired truck driver and a former employee of the New Orleans Country Club security department.

Services were March 1 at Mt. Zion Methodist Church, New Orleans, with interment at Providence Memorial Park Cemetery.

LEWIS

NEW ORLEANS – Evelina Lewis, 96, a native of Vacherie and lifelong resident of New Orleans, died Feb. 25. She was the mother of Shirley Martin and Abraham Lewis Jr.

She is also survived by 21 grandchildren.

Services were March 1 at Greater Liberty Baptist Church, New Orleans, with interment at Resthaven Memorial Park.

RODRIGUE

VACHERIE – Maxime Robert “Max” Rodrigue Jr., 79, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Feb. 25. He was the husband of the late Earline Simon Rodrigue and father of Katherine Caire, Melanie Harang and Leslie, Tommy and Vernon Rodrigue.

He was the son of the late Maxime Sr. and Ludivine Torres Rodrigue and brother of Auline “Nin” Guillot, Martha “Tha” and Mark Rodrigue and the late Anne Wood and Delphine, Louise, Alfred Sr., Victor and Maurice Rodrigue.

He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was a machinist for Factory Sales and Engineering.

Services were Feb. 28 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum.

SHAW

CONVENT – Christine Shaw, 49, a native and resident of Convent, died Feb. 25. She was the sister of Shirley Robinson, Ann Addison, Ethel Sneed, Clarence LeBlanc and Rebecca, Olivia and Eddie Shaw.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Convent, with interment at St. James United Methodist Cemetery, Convent.

THEARD

RESERVE – Hilda L. Theard, 89, a native and resident of Reserve, died Feb. 27.

She was the daughter of the late Marcel and Josephine Theard and sister of Curtis Alexander and the late Fay Foret and Marcel and Eldon Theard.

Services were March 1 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery, New Orleans.

WALLACE

RIVER RIDGE – Derica Denise “Tee Tee” Wallace, 18 months, a resident of New Sarpy, died Feb. 23.

She was the daughter of Jessica Wallace and Derrick Jacob and sister of Derrick and Tenisha Wallace.

She was the grandchild of Rufus Allen, Maize and Larry Jacob, Darrell Sr. and Terri Morgan and Beverly Wallace. She was also the great-grandchild of Annie Mae Wallace and Rosetta Travis.

Services are today at noon in the chapel of Richardson Funeral Home, River Ridge, with interment at Providence Memorial Park.
