COTHAM

LUTCHER – Earl Cotham, 82, a native of Livingston Parish and resident of Lutcher, died Feb. 23. He was the husband of Honorine Louque Cotham and father of Beverly Welch, Elsie Whitney and Michael Cotham.

He was the son of the late Alphonse and Elsie Schell Cotham and brother of the late Mildred Bennett, Bessie Hendon, Gladys Griffin and Raymond Cotham.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and was part of the first voyage on transport carrier that circled the globe. He was also a retired operator with Kaiser Aluminum.

Services are today at 9:45 a.m. in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, Lutcher, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

FALGOUST

ST. JAMES – Albert Pierre Falgoust Jr., 97, a native of Vacherie and resident of St. James, died Feb. 21. He was the son of the late Albert Sr. and Emilda Rome Falgoust and brother of the late Louise LaFranz, Helen and Victor Rome and Christine, Adelta, Laura and Roger Falgoust.

He is also survived by a niece, two nephews and 10 great-nieces and nephews.

He was a retired sugar cane farmer.

Joint services were Feb. 26 at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment at the Our Lady of Peace Mausoleum, Vacherie.

FALGOUST

ST. JAMES – Roger Joseph Falgoust, 95, a native of Vacherie and resident of St. James, died Feb. 24. He was the son of the late Albert Sr. and Emilda Rome Falgoust and brother of the late Louise LaFranz, Helen and Victor Rome and Christine, Adelta, Laura, Roger and the late Albert Falgoust Jr.

Joint services were Feb. 26 at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment at the Our Lady of Peace Mausoleum, Vacherie.

JACOB

EDGARD – Artemese F. “Tee-Meese” Jacob, 79, a native and resident of Edgard, died Feb. 21. She was the wife of the late Stene Samuel by first marriage and the late Wilbert Jacob by second marriage and mother of Brenda Herbert, Betty Samuel, Anthony Samuel and Stafford Jacob.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Feb. 26 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery.

JACOB

KENNER – Melvin Paul “Jake” Jacob, 66, a native of Reserve and resident of St. Rose for 45 years, died Feb. 22. He was the husband of Jeanette Englade Jacob and father of Robin Kulawiak.

He was the son of the late Guy and Minta Dupre Jacob and brother of Judith Macloud, Linda Feucht and Barbara Jacob.

He is also survived by three grandchildren.

He was a retired salesman for John J. Carter Co.

Services were Feb. 26 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Kenner, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan.

LANDRY

RESERVE – Marcelle Montz Landry, 96, a native and resident of Reserve, died Feb. 25. She was the wife of the late Clifford Landry and mother of Leatrice Luminais, Mary Catoire, Sylvia Simoneaux, Sybil Montegut, Irene Moore and C.F. Jr., Ronald, Bobby, Richard, Roy and the late Mickey Landry.

She was the daughter of the late Pierre and Marie Montz and sister of Mae Keller, Carl Montz and the late Juliet Bressler, Denise Bourg and Eleanor and Pierre Montz Jr.

She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Feb. 26 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at the church cemetery.

LEMAR

VACHERIE – Julia Lemar, 73, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Feb. 20. She was the mother of Burnetta Brown, Lena Costley and Larry Lemar Sr.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services were Feb. 26 at First Baptist Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery.

LEWIS

EDGARD – Junius Lewis Jr., 80, a native of Lemonville and resident of Edgard, died Feb. 20. He was the husband of Thelma Grows Lewis and father of Betty Jackson, Janice Johnson, Amelia Swilley, Audrey Howard and Sheryl, Allen, Lionel and the late Cory Grows and Mary, Peter, Harold Lewis.

He was the son of the late Junius and Vanessa Lewis and brother of Vanessa Howard and Dorothy, James and the late Ida Mae Lewis.

He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were Feb. 26 at Second African Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at Young Cemetery, Edgard.

MILLER

CROSSROADS, Miss. – Bobbie Laverne Polk Miller, 71, a native of Bogalusa and resident of St. Charles Parish, died Feb. 23. She was the mother of Jeffrey and Bruce Miller.

She was the sister of Vera Hughes.

She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Services were Feb. 26 at Free Pentacostal Church, Crossroads, Miss., with interment at the church cemetery.

PATTERSON

NEW ORLEANS – Elnora Williams Patterson, 79, a native of St. James Parish and resident of New Orleans for 55 years, died Feb. 20. She was the wife of the late Louis “Peps” Patterson and mother of Jerrylean Merriday, Barbara Lewis and Gloria and Lois Patterson.

She was the daughter of the late Rev. Raymond Sr. and Jane Williams and sister of Jane Fifi, Josephine Perkins, Evelyn Armstrong, Julia Ross and the late Eva Carey, Florence Diaz and Sylvester, Junius and Raymond Williams Jr.

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was a retired seamstress for Rutter Rex Sewing Factory.

Services were Feb. 25 at Guiding Light Missionary Baptist Church, New Orleans, with interment at Restlawn Cemetery.

PIERRE

ST. JAMES – Alex “Dice” Pierre Jr., 58, a native of Vacherie and resident of Baytree, died Feb. 18. He was the husband of Marilyn Steib Pierre and father of Zeakea Dumas and Schonette and Krystle Pierre.

He was the son of Fabiola Pierre and the late Elex Pierre Sr. and brother of Marion Williams, Deloris Jeffrey, Joyce Morton, Shelia Melancon, Kathleen Herbert and the Rev. Douglas, Bernard, Michael, Jerome, Richard and the late Rosemary Pierre.

He is also survived by one grandchild.

He was a maintenance technician at Union Carbide.

Services were Feb. 25 at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment at the church cemetery.

RASMUSSEN

LULING – Lois Irene Robinson Rasmussen, 73, a native of Centralia, Wash., and resident of Luling for three years, died Feb. 21. She was the wife of 46 years of Clifford Rasmussen and mother of Lorna Dufresne, Elaine Henthorn and Howard Rasmussen.

She was the daughter of the late Durward and Esther Waunch Robinson.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren.

Memorial services are today at 10:30 a.m. at First Union Presbyterian Church, Luling.

ROUSSEVE

NEW ORLEANS – Irma Madade Rousseve, 90, a native of Lutcher and resident of New Orleans for more than 80 years, died Feb. 21. She was the mother of Lorraine Detiege.

She was the sister of Claudia Meyi and Evelyn Roudeze.

She is also survived by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was a retired librarian.

Services were Feb. 26 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, New Orleans, with interment at St. Vincent de Paul No. 1 Cemetery, New Orleans.

SCOTT

PAULINA – George Scott, 63, a native and resident of Lutcher, died Feb. 22. He was the husband of Emily Zeno Scott and father of Brandon Scott.

He was the son of the late Edward and Odeal Scott and brother of Ernestine Lee, Joseph Sr., Samuel, the Rev. Benjamin and Jake Scott and the late Pearly Batiste, Octavia Ezidore, Mary Sanchez and Phillip, Numan, Alex and Elijah Scott.

He is also survived by one grandchild.

He was a retired teacher, administrator and counselor for the St. James Parish School District with 35 years of service.

Services were Feb. 26 at Evergreen Baptist Church, Paulina, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina.

SIMON

NEW ORLEANS – Hilda Marie Simon, 83, a native of Vacherie and resident of New Orleans for the past 50 years, died Feb. 21. She was the wife of the late Willie J. Simon and mother of Wayne, Michael and Barry Simon.

She was the daughter of the late Honore and Theresa Waguespack Simon and sister of Isabelle Ruiz, Olga Troxclair, Elma Haydel, Lelia Trosclair and Edna, Arthur, Lewis, Olide, Laurent, Edgar and Honore Simon.

She is also survived by one grandchild.

Services were Feb. 25 in the chapel of McMahon Coburn Briede Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment at St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery, New Orleans.

WINFIELD

NEW ORLEANS – The Rev. Willie Winfield, 75, a native of Garyville and resident of New Orleans for 61 years, died Feb. 18. He was the husband of Willie Mae Winfield and father of Willie Benoit, Joann Dixon and Carolyn, Lionel Sr., Andrew and Anthony Winfield.

He was the brother of Alberta Blair, Catherine Porter, Enola Shields and Clarence, Freddie, Charles and Melvin Winfield.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired construction worker. He was a graduate of Union Baptist Theological Seminary.

Services were Feb. 25 at Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, New Orleans, with interment at Resthaven Memorial Park, New Orleans.

ZERINGUE

ST. JAMES – Cecile Robert Zeringue, 94, a native of Donaldsonville and resident of St. James, died Feb. 25. She was the wife of the late Leopold Zeringue and mother of Doris Hymel and Roland, Norman and the late L.J. Zeringue.

She was the daughter of the late Wallis and Zelia Hymel Robert and sister of Bertis Robert and the late Wina Tamplain, Gladys Poirrier, Elma Chiquet, Mabel Guichet and William Jr., Maurice, Wallis Jr., Maxie and Lester Robert.

He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild, one great-grandchild and an infant son.

Services are today at 11 a.m. At St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment at Ascension Catholic Mausoleum. Visitation begins at 9 a.m.
