LAPLACE – St. John Parish deputies swarmed onto the LaPlace Oaks housing development Monday and took into custody an alleged carjacker, sought since Dec. 21.

Capt. Michael Tregre of the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of Jeremy Holland, 23, after a tip led detectives to an abandoned apartment at 12:09 p.m. Holland was taken into custody without incident.

According to Capt. Patrick Yoes of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, the alleged victim reported that an acquaintance, identified as Holland, met him in LaPlace and asked him for a ride to Montz.

Along the way, Holland was reported to have had the driver make two stops in LaPlace and then proceed to Montz.

In the vicinity of CC Road in Montz, Tregre continued, Holland allegedly produced a handgun and forced the victim from his Mitsubishi Lancer. The car was later recovered in Reserve, and the driver was not injured.

Tregre commented that Holland had an “extensive criminal record.”
