CUNNINGHAM

NORCO – Carl Dudley Cunningham, 93, a native of New Amsterdam, Ind., and resident of Norco for 60 years, died May 15. He was the husband of the late Annette Dunn Cunningham, and father of Carol Stone and James Cunningham.

He is also survived by four grandchildren.

He is a charter member of St. Charles United Methodist Church and a retired chemical engineer from Shell Oil Company with 37 years of service.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Charles United Methodist Church, Destrehan, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

DUNBAR

KENNER – Jamil Kwamanie Dunbar, 26, a native of Metairie and resident of LaPlace, died May 10.

He was the son of Eric Dunbar and Adrienne Williams, stepson of Gordon Handy and Dorth Dunbar, brother of Eric Nicholas and Terrence Johnson, Aisha and Takiya Dunbar.

He was also the grandchild of Delores Williams, Mercedes Dunbar and John Williams.

Services were May 15 at Oakland Baptist Church, Kenner, with interment at Love and Charity Cemetery.

ENGLADE

LAPLACE – Amie L. Englade, 18, a native and resident of LaPlace, died May 14. She was the daughter of Dwayne Englade and Donna Keen and sister of Nathan and Michael Englade.

She was also the grandchild of Nathan and Mildred Englade, Dorothy Keen, and the late Van Keen.

Services were May 18 at First Baptist Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.

HYMEL

EDGARD – Merlin Antoine Hymel Sr., 86, a native of St. James and resident of Edgard for 56 years, died May 16.

He was the husband of Martha Caire Hymel and father of Charlotte Bracey, Ronald, Michael and Merlin Hymel Jr., and the late Patricia Glynn.

He was also the son of the late George and Marie Guidry Hymel, and brother of Lucille Bye, Therese Gonzales, Edith Laurent, Amy Laurent, Eunice, Clifton and Lloyd Hymel, and the late Mable Granier, George, Nelson and Ivy Hymel.

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was a veteran of World War II and a Purple Heart recipient.

Services were May 18 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery.

HYMEL

LULING – Norma J. Hymel, 94, a native and resident of Luling, died May 14. She was the wife of the late Noe J. Hymel, and mother of Donald and Raymond Hymel.

She was also the daughter of the late Stanislaus Sr. and Matilda Webre Hymel, and sister of Anita Zeringue, and the late Leila St. Pierre, Margorie St. Pierre, Florence Favoron and Stanislaus Hymel Sr.

She is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were May 17 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Luling, with interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.

LOMBARDI

MARRERO – Juliette Michelle Lombardi, 18, a native of Houma and resident of Hahnville, died May 16. She was the daughter of John and Madeline Verdin Lombardi and sister of Rachelle, Joshua and Shawna Lombardi.

She was also the grandchild of Evelyn Lombardi, Vivian Verdin, and the late Philocles Verdin and John Lombardi.

She was also the girlfriend of John W. Steward.

Services are today at 1 p.m. In the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, Marrero, with interment at Westlawn Memorial Park, Gretna. Visitation starts at 11 a.m.

MELANCON

GRAMERCY – Lea Decareaux Melancon, 89, a resident of Gramercy, died May 17.

She was the wife of the late Elephege Melancon, and mother of Aurelia Delaneuville, Odile Wilson, Keith and Kerry Melancon, and the late James Melancon.

She was also the daughter of the late Joseph and Aurelia Decareaux and sister of the late Lena Louque, Lelia Schexnayder, Lydia Breaud, Sylvia Barnes and Basile Decareaux.

She is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11:30 a.m. at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina.
