Players from both Hahnville and Destrehan are well represented in the 2004 6-5A All District 1st Team. The lone East St. John player to make the team was Tiffany Bernard, who made it as a utility player.

Bernard hit .354 during the season for the Lady Cats.

Hahnville’s Brittany Simoneaux finished the regular season with a 11-0 record while compiling an ERA of 0.287. In addition, her strikeout to walk ratio was amazing. She had 83 strikeouts while walking only three. One of Simoneaux’s finer performances was against rival Destrehan on April 10.

She threw a two-hitter in a convincing 11-1 victory. The Hahnville senior was also named C0-MVP of the district.

Two Lady Tigers make up the infield for the All-District team. Lynzie Brown, who hit .341 during the season, made it as a first-baseman. Brown got 16 hits and scored 15 runs for Hahnville.

Annie Minich made it at the shortstop position. She had a batting average .307 in 52 at bats and scored 17 runs and hit 16 hits.

In the outfield, Karla Troxler of Hahnvile hit .596 for the Lady Tigers while banging out 31 hits and nine RBI’s.

Troxler was also a threat to run everytime she reached first base. She had 17 stolen bases on the season.

Four Destrehan players made it on the second team. Pitcher Rachel Kelly led the Lady Wildcats in pitching with a 7-4 record and a 1.25 ERA.

Hahnville catcher Katy Morantine made it as a catcher on the second team.

She had 16 hits in 45 at bats along with RBI’s. More importantly, she did not strikeout any in the 2004 season.

Donna Weber was the final member of the Destrehan softball team to make the All-District 6-5A Team. The third-baseman hit .405 for Hahnville and had 15 hits and seven RBI’s.

Two Destrehan outfielder’s round out local players who made the All-District Team, as selected by the coaches.

Kala Keller, an outfielder, hit .268 in 41 at-bats this year, while scoring eight runs.

Kaci Wilson of Destrehan hit .262 with 42 at-bats along with four stolen bases and four strikeouts.

Coach of the year in 6-5A also went to Hahnville. For the second year in a row, Kenny Vial earned the honor.

The Lady Tigers season came to an end with a regional playoff loss to Walker, while Destrehan lost to Chapelle in the bi-district round of the playoffs.
