St. John
DAIGRE
GARYVILLE – Darlene Marie Daigre, 44, a native and resident of Garyville, died Dec. 31. She was the mother of Deskameko, Destany and Damone Daigre.
She was also the daughter of Johnny Daigre Sr., and the late Aldonia Daigre, and sister of Demetria Monroe, Andrea Anderson, Glenda Duperclay, Johnny Jr., Ronnie, Bryant and Durell Daigre, and the late Ronnie Wendell and Glenna Denise Daigre.
She is also survived by two grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 6 at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Garyville, with interment at Zion Travelers Baptist Cemetery, Lions.
FALGOUST
DONALDSONVILLE – Philomene Therese Dufresne “Tut” Falgoust, 87, a native of Wallace and resident of St. James and Donaldsonville, died Jan. 3. She was the wife of the late Joseph “Cap” Falgoust, and mother of Sharon Zeringue, Gayle, Michael and Glenn Falgoust.
She was also the daughter of the late Ida Waguespack and Ulysse Dufresne, and sister of Agnes Barr, Georgette Spoonts, Ethel and Ulysse Dufresne, and the late Cecile Faucheux, Anna Dennis, Amilcar and Claude Dufresne.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was the 1934 valdictorian of Edgard High School.
Services were Jan. 6 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Donaldsonville, with interment at Ascension Mausoleum.
GALATAS
ST. ROSE – Newton Joseph “N.J.” Galatas, 57, a native of Garyville and resident of Jefferson Parish, died Jan. 4. He was the son of Rita Andre, and the late William Galatas Sr., stepson of Lillie Staurd, brother of Gynelle Stoker, Russel and William Galatas, and the late Earlene Hammett and William Galatas Jr., and stepbrother of Loretta Formmeyer.
Graveside services are today at 11:30 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose. Visitation starts at 8:30 a.m. at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, Norco.
GREEN
NEW ORLEANS – Eugene Howard Green Sr., 62, a native of Monterey, longtime resident of New Orleans and resident of LaPlace, died Dec. 25. He was the husband of Ellen Green and father of Eugene Green Jr.
He was also the brother of Anna Mae Adams, Lillie Mae Lodge, Joe and William Green.
He is also survived by two grandchildren.
He was a retired longshoreman and maintenance worker for New Orleans Paddle Wheel and a member of International Longshoremen Local No. 3000.
Services were Jan. 3 in the chapel of D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment at Garden of Memories.
HEBERT
LAPLACE – Doris Laiche Hebert, 49, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Jan. 2. She was the mother of Tina Marie and Roy Hebert Jr.
She was also the daughter of Morris Laiche, and the late Mae Rose Arceneaux Laiche, and sister of Frank and Morris Laiche Jr.
She is also survived by one grandchild.
Services were Jan 5 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.
