KILN, Miss. — St. Charles Catholic finished the Hancock tournament on a winning note recently as it posted a 63-37 victory over Ocean Springs, Miss.
Michael Troglen finished with a game-high 17 points for the Comets while teammate Jarvis Sanders added 13 points.
St. Charles Catholic finished the event with a 1-1 record and stands at 2-5 after the tournament.
The Comets fell to Harrison Central in their opener, but head coach Jeff Montz said his team played well in both match-ups.
“Harrison Central won the Mississippi state title a few years ago, and we were able to stay with them until they pulled away with three-and-a-half minutes left to play,” he said. “We’ve been showing improvement each game and a lot of guys from the football team are just now starting to play. I’m hopeful we can continue to improve at the rate we have been.”
Against Ocean Springs, St. Charles Catholic excelled in several areas of the game.
“We shot well, had some good defensive pressure and did very well on the defensive boards,” Montz said.
