Riverside falls in three games

RESERVE – The Assumption Lady Mustangs have long been a powerhouse in volleyball. Year-after-year, they are considered one of the top teams in Louisiana. Wednesday afternoon, they proved why they are one of the top teams. Assumption easily defeated the Riverside Lady Rebels in three games, 25-9, 25-9, 25-18.

The Lady Rebels played their best volleyball during the final game. The Lady Rebels hung in there for most of the third game. A kill by Kelli Millet tied the game 5-5. Assumption then scored three unanswered points to grab an 8-5 lead.

A thunderous kill from Latashia Wise made the score 13-9 Assumption.

Trailing 20-14, the Lady Rebels pulled to within three thanks to solid defense.

A block from Erica Oubre made the score 20-17 Lady Mustangs.

However, Assumption would go on a 5-1 run to claim victory. Two consecutive return errors by the Lady Wildcats gave Assumption the victory.
