Triad to host Senior Day Oct. 26

The St. Charles Parish Triad will host its 8th annual Senior Day on Tuesday, Oct. 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event will be held at the St. Charles Room Bingo Hall 13145 Hwy. 90 in Luling. All St. Charles Parish senior citizens are invited to this free event.
Representatives from St. Charles Parish Hospital will provide cholesterol and blood pressure screenings. Also, in conjunction with Winn Dixie, free glucose tests will be conducted.
The St. Charles Parish Triad will provide information on available programs that assist area senior citizens such as Operation Quick Response, the house numbering project, the File of Life, miniature medical file, Adopt-A-Senior program; 911 Flashing light, emergency light, “Are You Okay?” Telephone Reassurance System, and Triad’s drug disposal program.
Also, slated to be at the Triad Senior Day are representatives and booths from St. Charles Sheriff’s Office, St. Charles Council on Aging, Capitol Area Legal Services, American Cancer Society, United Way of St. Charles, R.S.V.P., Arc of St. Charles, American Red Cross, St. Charles Hospital, Hahnville Volunteer Fire Dept., Dept. Of Community Services, LA Dept. of Justice, Visiting Angels, Hibernia, Advocacy Center Ombudsmen Program, Elderly Protective Services, Norco Adult Day Care, Winn Dixie Pharmacy, Entergy and Luling Living Center. Also, entertainment provided by Mr. Blanche Newsome. Dance performance by “The Dancing Grannies.”
The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office and the St. Charles Council on Aging, as well as senior service providers from the area sponsor the Triad program. Open to seniors throughout the parish, the organization promotes crime prevention, citizen awareness and victim assistance. Triad’s governing body is the S.A.L.T. (Seniors And Lawmen Together) council.
