LAPLACE – The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested one juvenile and is actively searching for three others after the adolescents were reported hiding between houses – shooting BB guns at passing vehicles.

Two officers from the sheriff’s office investigated the incident after receiving a telephone call Saturday at 10:36 p.m., according to Capt. Michael Tregre.

Tregre said a female motorist told one of the officers that she was driving her 1997 white Ford pick-up truck south in the 2000 block of North Sugar Ridge when she heard something hit her car three times.

Turning her head to the right, the woman said she saw four black males aiming BB guns at her car.

Two of the shooters were wearing a black shirt and black pants. A third shooter was identified wearing a red shirt while the fourth shooter had a white shirt on.

Shots fired at the truck caused a chip to the driver side window and two chips on the driver’s door.

A man living on San Francisco Road told the second officer that four, black, male juveniles, wearing the same clothing, shot at his garage door three times, denting it.

After shooting the garage door, the youths left, walking north on North Sugar Ridge.

The second officer found the adolescents at 2113 N. Sugar Ridge. The boys began running in different directions.

Selecting one to chase, the second officer ran after the youth holding a black BB gun.

Both officers took the 13-year-old youth into custody and charged him with aggravated criminal damage to property and resisting an officer.

The BB gun, located behind 2113 N. Sugar Ridge, was turned over for evidence.
