CANTRELLE

ST. JAMES – Gerald Francis Cantrelle, 83, a native and resident of St. James, died Aug. 11. He was the father of Catherine Harris, Geralyn Henzley and stepfather of Joy Woods.

He was also the son of the late Paul and Constance Ceasar Cantrelle, and brother of Maudrey Cantrelle, and the late Mary, Paul, David, henry and Walter Cantrelle.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 19 at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment at the church cemetery.

CHOPIN

VACHERIE – Marshall “Willie” Chopin, 94, a native of Wallace and resident of Vacherie, died Aug. 16. He was the husband of Maude Peters Chopin and father of Evelyn Bethancourt and Lester Chopin.

He was also the son of the late Samuel and Felicia Mitchell Chopin, and brother of Augustine Mitchell, Lease Stewart and Archange Raphael. He is preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 20 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery.

CROWELL

LAPLACE – Dorothy Catoire “Dolly” Crowell, a native of Reserve and resident of LaPlace for 40 years, died Aug. 15. She was the mother of Kim Mengarelli, Dana Weidman, Keith and Chris Polato, Monique Mixon, and Marcel Madere.

She was also the daughter of the late Henry and Iola Catoire, and sister of Loe Ruiz, H.P. and the late Billy Catoire.

She is also survived by six grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 18 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

DOREST

RESERVE – Ammie L. Dorest, a native and resident of Reserve, died Aug. 13. She was the wife of Paul Dorest.

She was also the daughter of the late Edna Perrilloux and Raymond LaGrande Sr., and sister of Morris and Raymond LaGrande Jr.

Services were Aug. 19 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

ENGEL

DESTREHAN – Ernest Robert Engel Jr., 82, a native of New Orleans and resident of Destrehan for four years, died Aug. 11. He was the brother of Gloria Millet.

He was a retired bookkeeper.

Private services were held.

FAUCHEUX

VACHERIE – Lucien Gerard Faucheux, 78, a native of Wallace and resident of Vacherie, died Aug. 19. He was the husband of Joyce Waguespack Faucheux and father of Diane Champagne, Brenda, Donald, Charles and Mark Faucheux.

He was also the son of the late Fergus and Noelie Tregre Faucheux, and brother of Mabel Cazenave, Vivian Waguespack, Enola, Lewis, Malvin, Clarence, Clifford, and the late Lynn Faucheux.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m., at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

KELLER

NORCO – Pearl Marie Becnel Keller, a resident of Norco, died Aug. 17. She was the wife of the late Eddie Keller, and guardian of her niece, Jan Weber Mauduit.

She was also the daughter of the late Joseph Becnel and Malvina Marie Bossier, and sister of Rita Weber, Grace Keller, Mary Breaud, Lut, Sydney and Al Becnel, and the late Louise Babin, Roy and Dickie Becnel.

Services were Aug. 20 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norco, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan.

PERCY

EDGARD – Wilberine Bailey Percy, 90, a resident of St. John the Baptist Parish, died Aug. 18. She was the wife of the late Wallace Percy, mother of Debra Gordon, and stepmother of Doris Green, Clarette Branch and Willis Percy.

She was also the daughter of the late Cola and Mary H. Bailey, and sister of Inez Richard, and the late Wilhelmine Kindrick and Marjorie Barre.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one grandchild.

Services were Aug. 20 at St. John the Baptist Parish Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery.

PEYREGNE

DES ALLEMANDS – Felix J. Peyregne, 80, a native of Ama and resident of Des Allemands, died Aug. 16. He was the husband of Gloria Cortez Peyregne and father of Phyllis Comardelle, Kathy Sigmon and Philip Peyregne.

He was also the son of the late Felix E. And Elmira Zeringue Peyregne.

He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Services were Aug. 19 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Des Allemands, with interment at the church cemetery.
