AMA — The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a New Orleans man on May 30 on forcible rape charges.

Michael Gant, 47, of New Orleans was reported to have forced himself on a 20-year-old female victim from New Orleans.

“They knew each other,” said Public Information Officer Capt. Pat Yoes of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office. “We had no problem finding him to arrest him.”

According to Yoes, Gant allegedly struck the victim on her face and held her around the neck after forcing himself on her.

“They were in Ama,” said Yoes. “At a residence being renovated.”

Yoes said Gant was being held at the Nelson-Coleman Correctional Center in Killona with a bond of $200,000, set by Judge Emile St. Pierre.
