Many new faces in victory for Belle Terre

LAPLACE-Monday night’s meet puts smiles on the faces of the winning coaching staff.

No, it is not because of the score, the victory was certain at 371-168. The reason a meet like this puts a smile on the faces of the winning coaching staff is because they get to use swimmers that they have not used a whole lot before.

Belle Terre was able to do this Monday night against Sun Villa.

The swimmers that might not be the fastest on the team, but work just as hard in practice and are as big a part of their team’s success as the star swimmers.

Piranhas’ coaches Monica Scioneaux and Kellie Logan were really happy to see her team bounce back from a tough loss with such a solid performance.

“It was a great victory,” the duo said after the meet. “The big thing was that the kids came out there and they really just had fun and that is what any coach wants to see happen. They really enjoyed themselves tonight and they had a lot of spirit throughout the meet. They swam great and we are really proud of them.”

Busting out to an early 77-31 lead in the freestyle, the Belle Terre coaching staff said that was the difference in the meet.

“It was wonderful to get off to a good start,” Scioneaux said. “They key that we did tonight was that we were able to continue off of the good start that we had in the freestyle.

“Our kids swam so well that we pretty much were able to let every kid swim a relay and that was very fun to see and be able to do.”

The big winners of the night for the Piranhas were Kelsey Felton, Gage Alleman, James Krawczyk, Ashton Torres and Coti Roussel who all came home with multiple first-place finishes in their strokes.
