EDGARD-Stop me if you have heard this one before.

West St. John boys team plays, West St. John boys team wins big.

Head coach Antoine Edwards Rams’ won another game by double-digits on Tuesday night with a 96-46 defeat of Buras.

Kevin Wright led the Rams with 19 points. Dana Stipe had 14 points and Tyren Johnson also had 12 points. Juan Joseph rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 in the WSJ victory.

The victor over Buras put the Rams at 17-2 on the season and 5-0 in district 10-2A heading into their game yesterday on the road against Riverside.

Edwards continues to be pleased with his team’s performance offensively and defensively.

“We really continue to play well,” Edwards said. “I think the thing that has really been getting us started is that we have really been playing good defense. Without a doubt we still win together as a team and that is a big plus for us right now.

“Everything is really leading off towards us being an unselfish basketball team. I think we are distributing the ball pretty much evenly and we are getting a lot of people into quality scoring situations, but defense continues to be the key to the whole situation right now.”

Happy with the performance, Edwards said free throwing shooting must improve.

“I’m always going to get on them about their free throw shooting,” Edwards said. “We still continue to miss free throws. I am still looking on things to improve on and that is a glaring weakness for us right now.”
