It almost seemed like a second off-season for the Reserve Christian girls.

Playing their first game since January 7th, the Lady Eagles of Reserve Christian showed no signs of rust in a 75-30 white-washing of Northlake Christian.

Trenell Smith led Reserve with 27 points and her twin sister Trennesse Smith had 21 points. Jayna Morris also added 17 points in the victory.

With the win, the Lady Eagles improve to 18-5 on the season and 2-0 in district play heading into their game Friday against Mt. Hermon.

Reserve Christian head coach Kevin Branch said his team was just excited to be playing against someone other than themselves.

“Our girls have not got to play in a while and it is starting to get frustrating,” Branch said. “We had teams that didn’t really want to play us, so once they did get an opponent, they were really ready to play. I mean we came out and hit 11 3-pointers.

“We just haven’t played against a team in so long. We haven’t played a meaningful game in almost three weeks. I was glad to see how well we played, because our backcourt really played well too.”

18-5 and still undefeated in district play, Branch said he can’t find too many mistakes that his team must improve on.

“We don’t have any complaints with how we are playing right now,” Branch said. “I just want them to stay hungry and keep playing as well as they are right now.

“Not playing so many games, we will also be very fresh for the playoff run which will always be a good thing because you wanted to be well rested and ready to try and win a state championship.”
