LAPLACE — An 33-year-old Amite resident was arrested last week for allegedly raping a juvenile 17-year-old girl after picking her up in Kenner and driving her to LaPlace.

The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Darryl R. Perry picked up the victim at her residence and drove her to U.S. 51 approximately two to three miles north of Peavine Road.

He then proceeded to allegedly have sexual intercourse with her and performed oral sex on her without her consent, according to the incident reports.

The victim pressed charges in St. John Parish, but Perry had to be transported from Tangipahoa Parish Jail to St. John Parish, because of a possible charge in that particular parish.

Then he had to be brought back for the new charges in St. John Parish, according to the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Perry is being held at Sherman Walker Correctional Center in LaPlace on a $145,000 bond set by Judge Sterling Snowdy.
