ASCENSION OF OUR LORD SOCCER REGISTRATION SET

SUMMER HOOPS COMING TO YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD

NEW ORLEANS – For the fourth consecutive summer, the New Orleans Hornets will host free basketball clinics for children at locations throughout Louisiana and Mississippi. Sponsored by Ochsner Clinic Foundation and Hibernia National Bank, these clinics are open to children ages 7 to 14.

“Summer is a great time for us to share the game of basketball with kids”, said Hornets team president Paul Mott. “We’re pleased to welcome Ochsner and Hibernia to our Summer Hoops team, and with their help we look forward to once again reaching out to thousands of children across the region.”

Pre-registration is required, and forms are available at hornets.com, the Hornets Sales Center at the New Orleans Arena, and the locations listed below. Space is limited to 200 kids per half-day session, with 7-to-10 year-olds participating in the morning from 9:00 a.m. to noon and 11-to-14 year-olds participating in the afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The Summer Hoops Tour will begin in New Orleans on July 11 at Joe Brown Playground and conclude at the Alario Center in Westwego on Aug. 8. A complete tour schedule is provided at nba.com/hornets.

LIONS CHARITY GOLF TOURNEY SET

On Monday, September 19 at 1 pm. and the Riverlands Golf and Country Club in LaPlace, the Lions Club of St. John the Baptist will hold a charity golf tournament, benefiting the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation and Crippled Children Camp. Funds raised will be used to further help St. John the Baptist citizens. Everyone is invited to attend. Shotgun start, food and beverages included with four-person teams in a scramble format. SOUTHESTERN FOOTBALL SINGLE GAME TICKETS TO GO ON SALE

Single game tickets for the fast-approaching 2005 Southeastern Louisiana football season will be made available to the general public beginning August 8 announced Director of Athletics Frank Pergolizzi.

Season tickets are conveniently priced as low as $65 for the five game packages. Single game ticket prices begin at $12 for general admission tickets. Reserved bleacher seating is $18 and reserved chairback seating is $23. A family pack is also available for $35 per game and includes four general admission endzone tickets. The Lions will also have a number of tickets available to the Lions’ much anticipated game against Tulane at Tad Gormley Stadium. VOODOO TO HOLD OPEN TRYOUTS

The New Orleans VooDoo of the Arena Football League have scheduled a free-agent tryout camp in Jackson, Mississippi in preparation for the 2006 season, it was announced today by Head Coach Mike Neu.

The tryout camp will be held today, August 6, at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. In addition to the VooDoo coaching staff, New Orleans Saints personnel representatives will be on hand throughout the day to assist with the workouts in Jackson.

The VooDoo has conducted tryouts at several sites since entering the Arena Football League in 2003 and nine players have signed contracts with the team over the past two seasons following these workouts.

Arena Football League Teams are allowed to bring 37 players to training camp, which starts in January. The VooDoo presently has 15 players under contract for the 2006 season.

At the tryouts, players will compete at the following positions: wide receiver/defensive back, quarterback, offensive/defensive line and fullback/linebacker. Following registration, each player will warm up and then be timed and measured in the 40-yard dash, short shuttle and vertical jump. VooDoo coaches will then select candidates to participate in offensive and defensive lines.

Wide receivers, defensive backs and quarterbacks should arrive at 8:00 am for registration. Offensive linemen, defensive linemen, fullbacks and linebackers should arrive at 12:30 pm for registration. Candidates must come dressed and ready to work out and have the appropriate shoes for running on Sprinturf. Kickers will not be evaluated at the camp.

All participants will be required to sign a waiver to participate. Players must complete a registration form along with remitting the $50 registration fee for the camp. The registration fee is payable in cash or money order only. Please make money orders payable to the New Orleans VooDoo. Please bring exact change to the registration.

The tryout camp will be open to the media.

CHEERLEADING AND FOOTBALL SIGNUP SET

FORCE Recreation is currently holding registration for football and cheerleading. Ages for football registration are 6-12. If you make 13 after July 31 you are eligible to play. You may register by coming to practice on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Glade School on Highway 51 in LaPlace, or by calling Paul Smith at 985-536-8534 or Danny Rome at 504-559-4014. Insurance provided. Come join the Tri-Parish Youth Football leagues 2004 league champions and Super Bowl Champion. Registration ends August 15th.

GOLF TOURNEY SET

The St. Charles Humane Society is set to hold its 6th annual Howl-In-One Golf tournament at the Ormond Country Club at 10 Villere Drive in Destrehan on Monday, October 24 at 12:30. The cost is $70/per player and that includes lunch, beer, soft drinks, water, and reception with food after tournament and prizes. The format is a four-person scramble with prizes for all.
