Two arrests have been made in connection with an armed robbery at Garyville General Store on October 6, 2006.
“Craig Lee, 18, of 224 S. Fig Street, Garyville and Travon Fredericks 19, of 390 Historic East, Garyville are in custody after St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office received information about the identity of the suspects 15 minutes after the robbery,” said Mike Tregre, spokesperson for St. John Parish Sheriff’s office.
An investigation revealed that both subjects entered the business. Fredericks ran inside the store, jumped over the counter and took a money bag with an unknown amount of cash before leaving the store.
“Lee had entered the building armed with a handgun. Both suspects fled the scene and one fell hard on the railroad tracks where they found a loaded .380 caliber magazine,” Tregre said.
According to reports, Fredericks led officers to a residence off N. Church Street when fleeing, where he changed clothes and met with Lee. Fredericks told police that he was given part of the money from the robbery.
“At this time police are investigating whether the suspects were involved in a separate armed robbery in the 100 block of Museum Street on Sept. 13, 2006 where a victims purse was stolen form her after being held at gunpoint. Both cases have many similarities,” Tregre said.
