Mother arrested in altercation with son

RESERVE- A 46-year-old Reserve woman is in custody of the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office after officers responded to a call on Wednesday about gunshots heard in the 300 block of Annex drive.
“A second caller referring to the same incident advised police that a female was shooting at a male in a driveway on Annex Drive,” said Mike Tregre, spokesperson for the St. John Sheriff’s Office.
“Upon arrival, police spoke to Carolyn Brown who said that an argument had occurred between she and her son,” Tregre said
According to a statement the Browns gave police, her son, 18, had punched her in the mouth and then kicked in the door after she demanded that he leave the property.
“When he did not go, the she pulled a firearm from her purse and fired one shot that struck a tree,” Tregre said.
The weapon, a .380 caliber handgun was recovered and is being held as evidence.
Brown was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal use of a weapon and a prior charge of contempt of court.
