HAHNVILLE — A St. Rose man missing since July 25 was found alive and unharmed near Baton Rouge.
However, no one in St. Rose knew that for several days.
Eulogio Gonzales, 72, of 51 Bonura Drive, was last seen on July 25 at approximately 5:30 p.m. Gonzales suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease and has a severe alcohol dependency.
He was spotted on Interstate 10 just outside Baton Rouge, attempting to hitchhike to Laredo, Texas, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.
A woman who picked him up realized his condition and took him to police. There, he gave a next-of-kin in Texas. That person retrieved him, took him to Texas, and did not notify the family here for more than a week.
Since his recovery, Gonzales has been placed in a nursing facility in Alice, Texas.
