Law enforcement from two at least two different parishes will descend on Belle Terre Country Club in September for the Octavio &#8220Ox” Gonzalez Memorial Golf Tournament.

The event was organized by Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Jason Renton, who was one of the officers on the scene of the manhunt in Jefferson Parish for the suspects in Gonzalez’ shooting. He said that fellow officers have been quick to sign up.

&#8220The support from law enforcement has been outstanding,” Renton said. &#8220They account for about seventy percent of our registrations.”

Set for September 11 at Belle Terre Country Club, the memorial tournament will raise funds to benefit the Gonzalez family, who also live in Jefferson Parish. The community outreach in staging efforts to aide the family through the grieving process has been steady with a large turnout for a number of events. Just recently, a youth baseball tournament was set up in Kenner where the River Parish’s Tigers 8-10-year old team was named runner-up.

Belle Terre donated the course for the charitable event, which has an early tee time of 8 a.m. and an afternoon start of 1 p.m.

The cost of the tournament is $125 per person and $600 for a foursome.
