The Stingrays took a narrow victory over LaVacherie in an away meet last week, pulling ahead on the breaststroke and the butterfly events, and preserving the win with a good showing in the relays.

LaVacherie jumped out first in the River Parish League meet, getting 68 points to Riverlands 40 after the first full stroke. Competition was dead even in the backstroke as they battle to a 55 to 53 finish for a 30 point lead in LaVacherie’s favor.

But despite only getting four first place finishes in the breaststroke, the Stingrays put up numerous second and third places to keep it close in the stroke with a score of 58 to 46. That put it just out of reach for Riverlands as they went into the relays down by more than 50.

And in the relay races, the Stingrays were strong in the older categories, but gave up just as many points in the younger ages to keep pace. Ultimately, the meet ended with a 306 to 244 LaVacherie win.
