RESERVE — The Rebels were set to take on Thibodaux Monday afternoon, but will have to wait until later this week with a tentatively scheduled Friday make-up game.
With a 7-2 record so far in the Swampland North Division, Riverside has taken a win against the Thibodaux squad earlier this month already. The only team that the Rebels have yet to defeat is E.D. White which is also on the schedule this week in a home game.
“Wade Delaneuville gets the call for the Tuesday games,” Riverside coach Steve Stropolo said. “He’s been pitching pretty well, so we’ll give it what we got and try to get E.D. White this time around.”
Halfway through the schedule now, the Rebels have twice defeated Lutcher’s Imperial Sugar and Assumpiton and have single wins against Berwick and Terrebone. Stropolo will be leading his team against Imperial Sugar again this Thursday in an away game before taking a day off next Monday to get ready for the final stretch.
“We feel pretty good about how it’s gone so far,” said Stropolo. “We’ve got a shot here to keep our baseball streak going.”
That streak has been going strong for Stropolo this year, as the Rebels won the state championship and have seldom come across losses with an experienced bunch.
The Swampland playoffs are set to begin on July first with four qualifying teams making the cut.
