LAPLACE — The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a 20-year-old LaPlace man for attempted second-degree murder, after he shot another 20-year-old LaPlace man in the right shoulder and the right side of his neck.
Lionel Adams, who resides in the 1500 block of Delta Road in LaPlace, was arrested on April 21 for shooting Ronchelle Moore twice.
According to information provided by Sgt. Dane Clement, spokesman for the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office, Moore was driving along Delta Road in a green Oldsmobile Cutlass on May 25 with two passengers, who were 16 and 18-years old.
“Supposedly the car had rode by Adams house and Adams was irritated by it,” Clement said. “Adams yelled at the guys in the car, and the car stopped to confront the man.”
Clement said that Moore pulled up his shirt, seemingly to retrieve a weapon, and Adams approached the car and fired into the car, injuring Moore. Moore was able to drive himself home after the shooting, and called the Sheriff’s Office. Moore made a full recovery.
According to Clement the arrest took longer than usual due to mixing stories of what happened.
Adams is being held at the Sherman Walker Correctional Center on a $200,000 bond set by Judge Sterling Snowdy.
