Riverside’s Jordan Porrier had quite a game for the Rebels against the John Curtis Patriots on Saturday.
With his team keeping themselves within range of the district title as the post-season nears, Porrier guided Riverside to their sixth district win and picked up his sixth victory on the season from the mound. And that was just on defense.
On the other side of the ball, the Rebels as a team had things easily in hand after a four-run first inning, and spread a handful of runs throughout the rest of the game on their way to an 8-2 win.
Porrier was one of three Rebels to homer from the batter’s box. Lee Haydel and A.J. Delauneville were the other two to go yard. Chase Emerson also went 2-for-3 from the plate.
The Patriots did manage to post a run in the first and last innings. But Porrier held it down from the mound and helped in stranding five runners on base throughout.
Riverside went to 11-3-2 for the season, 6-1 in district, heading into their game against district leader St. Charles.
The Comets took the first meeting between the teams by a score of 5-2 two weeks ago. The Rebels and Comets have one more district meeting scheduled for April 18.
