LAPLACE — Despite a good start against Northshore with a home run by Amanda Savoie, the SCC softball squad couldn’t quite keep up with the Lady Panthers.
To open the game, Northshore came out swinging and got in one run, but two other possible scorers got caught by the SCC defense while trying to get some extra bases. The Lady Comets came out in the bottom of the inning and seemed like they would make a quick run when Savoie gave them the lead-off homer, but St. Charles stranded the go-ahead run at second by the end of the inning.
Scoring would resume in the third, with Northshore getting three runs in while St. Charles stayed in it with two of thier own. The Panthers began to open it up in the fourth with another run for a two point lead and SCC had trouble getting the ball in play. Northshore would go on to keep the Lady Comets off of the scoreboard while they added two more insurance runs in the sixth.
The loss puts St. Charles softball at 3-3 on the season. They are next set to play Riverside at the Toot Ganier tournament in Lutcher.
