Destrehan set to see Southwood in semi-finals of Sweet Sixteen next weekend

HAHNVILLE– Destrehan went into enemy territory Thursday night for the quarter-finals round of the girls basketball playoffs and left with a 84-69 win over the Lady Tigers.

The win advances the Lady Wildcats into the Sweet Sixteen tournament which is scheduled to start next Friday at Southeastern Louisiana University.

The Destrehan squad faces Southwood in their first game, the semi-finals round of the post-season, and the winner will be taking on the winner of the Denham Springs/Airline match-up. The victor in that game will be the 5A state champion.

The Lady Wildcats record now stands at 24-7 for the season. The Lady Tigers wrapped up their season at 16-16 this year.

Southwood, located in Shreveport, is a formidable opponent with a 35-5 record and convincing wins so far in the playoffs.
