RESERVE – A 29-year-old Reserve resident lost his life Sunday morning after losing control of the vehicle he was driving and drove it into the woods.
According to Louisiana State Police Trooper Joseph Piglia, Donald Coxie Jr. was traveling at a high speed on Airline Highway at Bayou Steel Road in LaPlace, when the 1998 Acura veered off the road to the right.
The vehicle struck several trees and the vehicle was divided into separate pieces. Coxie was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. John Parish Coroner.
“There was a computer check on the vehicle Coxie was driving and it revealed that the Acura was reported stolen on Nov. 7 last year,” Piglia said.
Piglia added, “It is unknown whether or not Coxie was responsible for the theft of the vehicle, but it is certain that he was in possession of a stolen vehicle.”
Coxie was not wearing a seatbelt.
Alcohol and drug use are pending upon autopsy results that had yet to be released as of press time.
