NORCO — An open house is set today in Norco by the FEMA Long-Term Recovery Center for St. Charles Parish.

The open house will be held at 124 Apple St., Norco, as part of Gov. Blanco’s Louisiana Recovery Planning Day, a day for Louisianians to provide input on rebuilding their communities. 

Citizens are invited to stop by throughout the day. No appointments are necessary. It is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The goal of long-term recovery planning is to engage as many Louisianans as possible in creating the vision for the future of their state and their communities regardless of where they may currently be living. 

The day will be marked by open house meetings throughout Louisiana to allow people to express local needs and define a community-based vision for recovery. 

Ideas are welcome in housing and community design, environmental and coastal issues, human services, transportation and tnfrastructure, and economic development

Public participation will become part of the Long-Term Community Recovery Plan which will be a framework for evaluating, coordinating and prioritizing recovery efforts. 

It is not a complete or exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done to fully recover in St. Charles Parish.

The value of the Plan is that it enables communities to begin moving forward by putting first things first and implementing projects that lay the foundation for next steps to recovery.

After Jan. 21, the Long-Term Community Recovery Center will be open to the public Monday – Saturday 7 a.m. – 7p.m.; Sunday noon – 4 p.m.
