LUTCHER– Local district play officially opened Tuesday when Lutcher’s Lady Bulldogs furthered their record to 13-5 on the season with a home win against DeLaSalle. The boys squad also took on the Spartans in New Orleans on Tuesday, but struggled their way to a district 47-42 loss.

The girls jumped out early in their game, as the LHS squad took a 12-3 lead after the first quarter of play before DeLaSalle warmed up and brought it to within a point before Randi Donald popped a pair of three-pointers to bring it into halftime 22-15.

The Lady Bulldogs came out strong after the break with scores by Donald and Rynique Perkins, who combined for 36 points, and coasted through the final quarter for a 50-31 win. Three players from the Lutcher team hit double digits as Donald and Perkins got 19-15 respectively, and Tyriel Dominick added ten more to help LHS start out district play with a win.

The Lady Bulldogs are set to face Reserve Christian in back to back games next week, first at the Eagles nest in Reserve on Tuesday, then in Lutcher on Friday.

The boy’s squad also tipped off in district play as they traveled to DeLaSalle. There, the Bulldogs fell behind early and made a 17-8 run in the fourth quarter, but they fell just short, dropping their record to 5-10 on the season.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to take on St. Helena next Tuesday in Lutcher.
