After advancing to the quarterfinals of the C.Y.O Basketball Classic, Reserve Christian fell in consecutive games on Thursday and Friday.

The Eagles lost to Rummel at the Shaw tournament on Thursday, 88-74 to eliminate them from first place contention. Then the Eagles lost a late lead to Karr on Friday in the same building, falling 42-40.

St. Augustine went on to win the tournament on Saturday night, 61-52 over Rummel at Jesuit.

“We had no energy at all,” said RCS coach Timmy Byrd. “We did not play with passion, instead we were very flat. There was a lot of standing around and watching Eddrin McCain and Lucas Martin playing.”

McCain led the team in the Rummel (5-3) game with 27 points. Martin scored 14.

The Eagles (14-4) led throughout the Karr (3-2) game, but turnovers did RCS in down the stretch. Karr was able to convert a basket off a steal with two seconds left, putting them ahead for good.

“When we take the court against East St. John (the two teams faced off at RCS on Tuesday) we need to get back to getting up and down the court, to playing Reserve Christian basketball,” Byrd said.
