LAPLACE-An extremely tight race in October opened up somewhat on Saturday as Charles Julien defeated Raydel Morris for the St. John Parish Council District 3 seat.

Though separated by only three percentage points in the primary, Julien managed to increase his margin of victory significantly. In the runoff he garnered 56 percent of the vote to Morris’ 44 percent, giving him a 12 percent advantage. In terms of number of votes, Juliens received 839 to Morris’ 648.

In October’s five-man race, Julien received 27 percent of the vote.
