To say St. Charles is on a roll in district play in an understatement – this has been an all out rampage.

The Comets have not only not lost a match in district yet, but they have yet to lose a game in 12 tries. The Comets extended their winning streak to four on Thursday, defeating Plaquemines on the road, 25-13, 25-15, 25-15. This came after downing Port Allen at home, earlier in the week.

&#8220It’s exciting for the team,” said St. Charles Coach Brandy Ryan of the Comets’ fast start. &#8220we have to keep our heads up and move forward.”

Brooke Becker had 10 digs and two aces for St. Charles (14-8, 4-0) in the win at Plaquemines (5-7, 0-3). Lauren Coniglio had seven kills. Courtney Western had six aces and 16 assists. In the contest with Port Allen, St. Charles took control early on and never relented. The closest Port Allen got to St. Charles late into a game was, after a Meg Gustafson kill made it 24-15 and game point for the Comets, Port Allen rolled off four straight points before St. Charles scored to finish the game off.

In the clinching game, St. Charles scored four of the final five points, capped off by an ace by Coniglio for the 25th and final point.

Coniglio had nine kills in the match. Western had 18 assists. Becker had three digs. Gustafson and Taylor Duhe each had three aces.

The undefeated start for the Comets has special meaning for Coniglio, who is playing her senior season at the school.

&#8220Especially to get off to this start as a senior, it feels good,” Coniglio said. &#8220No St. Charles girls team has won district recently, so it would be awesome if we could accomplish that.”

St. Charles will take part in the Lutcher tournament today, and on Tuesday will resume district play by hosting Lutcher at 4:30 p.m.
