West St. John had an important district matchup with North Iberville on Wednesday, as the teams were jousting for a potential second place finish in District 3-V play.
But just as they did on the Rams home floor, North Iberville came through, defeating West St. John in three games, 25-15, 25-19 and 25-9.
“We were a bit out of sync,” said West St. John Coach Glenda Rush. “We held our own. Our blocks and serves were good, but they went short on us when we double blocked.”
Tranell Mitchell notched eight kills, five blocks and 23 digs for the Rams (10-13, 4-4). Destani Comminie had ten blocks, five kills and 16 digs. Kyla Morris added 17 digs and four blocks. Krystie Barnes had four kills.
Rush said that regardless of the loss, she was proud of her team’s performance and effort in the match.
“We played them pretty close early on,” Rush said. “They didn’t get upset with one another. It was just a game that saw them a bit out of sync.”
