Dow exec named in Top 50 list

HAHNVILLE — Nawzer Parakh, site leader for Dow St. Charles Operations in Hahnville, Louisiana, and vice president for operations and global business manufacturing director for Dow’s Glycol Ethers and Amines businesses, was recently named as one of the Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business by the Asian American Business Development Center (AABDC).

&#8220The AABDC honors Asian American entrepreneurs and business professionals who have demonstrated great achievements in business nationwide. It is the largest and most influential Asian American Business Award in the United States, and I am proud that Nawzer was recognized for his nearly 40 years of exemplary leadership and excellent results in the chemical industry,” commented Andrew Liveris, Dow chairman and chief executive officer.

As part of his current role at Dow, Parakh is responsible for more than 2,000 employees and operations of 16 production plants at the St. Charles Operations site, where he consistently improved safety performance.

&#8220I am deeply honored and humbled by the receipt of this recognition from AABDC,” said Parakh. &#8220Throughout my years at Dow, I have been very fortunate to work with top-caliber professionals from around the globe, and this award is a really a reflection of their accomplishments.”

Parakh received his education in India, taking an Executive MBA course at the Indian Institute of Management in Mumbai, India. He graduated with honors, receiving a Bachelor of Technology in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur. He then began his career as an engineer in India, and worked for Union Carbide in a variety of management and leadership roles. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Chemical Alliance and is a member of the Louisiana Chemical Association.

Parakh resides in New Orleans with his wife, Kitty, and have two grown children.
