St. John ‘4th’ event set

RIVER PARISHES – The Mississippi River will burst with colorful pyrotechnic displays, excitement and celebrations this 4th of holiday in St. John and St. Charles parishes.

St. John will host its eighth annual Independence Day Celebration on July 3 at two locations, St. Peter Church parking lot on River Road in Reserve and the St. John Parish Courthouse parking lot on River Road in Edgard.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with music and refreshments, followed by a tribute to veterans at 8:30 p.m. and a fireworks display at about 9 p.m.

St. Charles Parish will host its 17th annual Fourth of July Celebration on July 3 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Westbank Bridge Park in Luling. 

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a musical performance by The Bucktown All-Stars, followed by a fireworks show at about 9 p.m. Face painting, snap pops and glow necklaces will also be featured. Hot dogs, snacks, sweets and soft drinks will be sold.

There is no admission charge and parking is also free.
