VACHERIE – Authorities are searching for a Hahnville man who allegedly robbed the Regions Bank in Vacherie Wednesday morning and fled from the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, according to Sheriff Willy J. Martin of the St. James Sheriff’s Office.

David Dee, 33, of 325 Ash St. in Hahn-ville, managed to escape an extensive police search that encompassed St. James, St. Charles, St. John Parishes and Thibodaux and authorities consider him armed and dangerous.

Dee reportedly entered the bank, located at 2501 Highway 20 West, at approximately 10:15 a.m. and with the persuasive force of a handgun demanded a teller hand over money. The teller complied before Dee sprinted away on foot.

St. James Parish detectives are continuing an investigation, and ask anyone with knowledge of Dee’s whereabouts to call the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office at 225-562-2200.
