LAPLACE – A late night hit and run left a LaPlace man hospitalized in critical condition on Thursday, leading authorities to suggest “he might not make it” and launch an investigation into the incident.
A black car struck the victim, Donald Brown, 26, on the 3000 block of English Colony Drive at 9 p.m. and sped southbound towards Woodland Drive, according to the St. John Sheriff’s Office.
St. John police, many of whom were conducting a DWI roadblock on Highway 51 near Interstate 10 at the time of the incident, arrived within two minutes with an ambulance to transport Brown to River Parishes Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Brown reportedly claimed he remembered nothing of the incident and an uncooperative witness identified the vehicle as either a two door black car or a four door black Ford Taurus.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the St. John Sheriff’s Office at 652-9514.
