Destrehan boys, girls pick up wins

Destrehan was dominant in a pair of road games for the baseball and softball team this past Tuesday as the boys took a 12-0 win over Vandebilt while the girls opened district with a 15-0 win over Ehret.
Trey Watkins and Renny Weber led the baseball team in their victory, gathering four hits and two RBIs, and three hits for four RBIs respectively. Dethan Rochelle got the win from the mound for DHS, giving up just two hits through five innings to bring his starting record to 1-1.
With the win, the boys go to 6-4 on the year.
The DHS LadyCats, meanwhile, went to 9-2 on the season, and 1-0 in 5-5A play with a thrashing of the Lady Patriots.
The girls didn’t waste any time, putting up seven runs in the top of the first as they were led in the effort by Gabby Roy from the plate as she homered twice and pushed in four RBIs. Victoria Reneau also hit a home run.
Julie Beaugh kept her record perfect from the mound in the start, pitching a shutout and giving up no hits through the minimum four innings.
Coming up for Destrehan, the boys face a three-game homestand against Brother Martin and Jesuit. The girls are set to host West Jefferson and Riverside this week.
