West St. John fans had a rough Saturday on the diamond as the baseball team fell in a late inning push by Ecole Classique and the girls tumbled in their first district tilt.

The boys hit the road for their match-up with the Ecole Spartans, for a rescheduled game.

The Rams took advantage of their four hits in the game with the Spartans, scoring five runs through four innings to take a 5-4 lead. But Ecole used a four run sixth inning to take a three run lead which they held on to through the final inning.

Daron Bartholomew started from the mound and hit a home run while Brad Robertson, who hit a home run two weeks ago, also recorded a hit.

On the girls side, WSJ opened their district schedule with a 15-0 loss to Ascension Catholic that only made it through three innings. Destani Comminie pitched for the Lady Rams, but struggled against the ASCH batters as they scored six in the first inning and _ in the second.

WSJ couldn’t manage to get anything going on offense either against Ascension Catholic.

The loss puts WSJ softball at 2-3 on the season, 0-1 in district 9-1A play.

This week, the Lady Rams face St. John of Plaquemine today while the Rams host Ascension Catholic Thursday.
