RESERVE — The LadyCats picked up a home win over South Lafourche Saturday afternoon, with a 5-0 shutout of the Lady Tarpons.
It wasn’t as easy as it sounded for the East St. John squad though, as they led 2-0 going into the final two innings of play. But Krista Tamplain gave the LadyCat squad a bit more breathing room with a deep shot that carried over the fence for a home run and a 3-0 lead.
After that, ESJ got going with two more runs in the inning, one on a South Lafourche throwing error at second base and another on a double steal. With a 5-0 lead going into the top of the seventh, Tamplain held off the Lady Tarpons from the mound, allowing just one base-runner and ending the game by forcing an infield ground out to first.
The LadyCats are set to get back to work this week with another home game this Thursday against H.L. Bourgeois, whom they scrimmaged with in early February. This weekend, their schedule has them traveling to play in the East Jefferson tournament before returning home for a game against Hahnville on Feb. 26.
