LULING – A 13-year-old Luling boy was arrested by authorities Monday night for attempting to kill his mother, according to Capt. Pat Yoes of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The boy allegedly grabbed his mother and held a knife to her throat, smothered her with a pillow and then threatened to kill her with a gun, but did not make an attempt to stab or shoot her.

She was able to break free from his grasp and immediately notified police of the attack, according to the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office.

The boy was arrested shortly after the attack for attempted first degree murder and aggravated assault.

Yoes did not know what provoked the attack.
